HOW DO I MAKE A RESERVATION ?

There are 3 ways on how to make a reservation,

Add on services are also available to book online although if you need specific services which cannot be fully added, this can be manually done after you have successfully booked the selected dates and bungalow

 WHY ARE THE RATES DIFFERENT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR? 

We devide the year into seasons as demand based, you will find our seasonal standard/regular rates advertised in our rooms section on resort page

Normally we divide the year into early & late season (Nov - March) and mid & peak season (April - October)

Our current advertised prices in the booking & rates page are relevant to our promotional rates offered during 2021, all bookings enquired and made for a different year will have a different quote.

The advertised rates when making a search in the booking platform will match with the season you are travelling. 

Other rate plans might show special deals or other packages offering certain services and/or restrictions  (these will be shown exclusively on our booking platform) 

IS THERE A MINIMUM LENGHT OF STAY AT BEOCEAN ?

We don't have a minimum set days other than one night to make a reservation with us, you can come and stay for as little as one night or as long as you are able to!!

However we do advise that to make your trip worth your time to travel to this part of Sumatra  you consider a recommended length of time to stay between 7 and 14 days which also gives you a better chance to score a good swell and discover the surf around! 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO ADD ON OR CHANGE SERVICES ON MY ONLINE BOOKING ?

You will be able to let us know of any specific information related to your reservation on the email exchange related to payment and/or on the form submission of trip quote

 

You can still update your booking and add on (or change) services after you have submitted your provisional 

booking, just let us know and we can manually make the relevant changes/additions

Is BeOcean Krui taking the necessary measures during COVID-19?

We sure to say that one of our aims since we opened in 2015 was to keep a very clean and safe environment for our guests, making cleanliness and health related matters another one of our main priorities and focuses when carrying our our daily tasks and cleaning jobs.

As part of the current situation and following our procedures, our staff have been given the proper guiding and advise on a stay-healthy level as well as daily hygiene procedures.

Masks will be used when appointed making sure we keep the wellbeing of all. 

What does BeOcean Krui need from potential guests when travelling to Indonesia and further to BeOcean Krui during Covid-19 ?

  • We strongly need you to have a medical insurance and travel insurance

  • We need you to be properly advised from your country of origin of any travel restrictions and measures on departure + arrival to/from your country of origin to/from Indonesia

Indonesia still has its borders closed for VOA (Visa On Arrival) which is the most common visa to enter Indonesia as a tourist, there are updates made every two weeks and we still have had no changes related to the borders so for the moment the regular tourists cannot enter the country

HOWEVER !!

There are certain type of visa exemptions which will allow you to get in the country 

If you are thinking to make a trip to Indo and time and money is not an issue please let us know as we can guide you in the right direction on how to handle this entry to the country

HOW DO I GET TO KRUI IN SOUTH SUMATRA?

The first thing you must do is to search for flights to Jakarta International airport (Soekarno Hatta), and our general advise would be to buy a separate flight to Bandar Lampung in South Sumatra. 

Bandar Lampung airport (TK Tanjung Karang) is at present, the closest and most reliable option of entry to South Sumatra by plane.

 

Yes there has been a flight to Krui (always on and off) in the past and up until March 2020 but we will check that further down  

There are some local airlines that offer easy online bookings for the short flight from Jakarta to Bandar Lampung:

  • Check out Garuda Indonesia (being the most reliable), Sriwijaya Air or Lionair.

  • Check out also all options in www.traveloka.com which is the most popular and reliable booking engine for domestic flights in Indonesia. 

 

Please bear in mind if you arrive from an international flight to Jakarta airport you should allow yourself at least 3 hours before catching your next flight to Bandar Lampung

 

Domestic flights (in case you are travelling from another Indonesian airport) will always have a stopover in Jakarta before transit to your next flight to Bandar Lampung. 

CAN I FLY TO KRUI? 

The right answer is... sometimes! 

You can fly to Krui from Bandar Lampung, however this flight has been on and off since last November 2019 and it is currently not in operation until further notice 

The flight generally leaves 3 times a week BL-KR / KR-BL although it is not the most reliable way to travel to Krui as flights suddenly can get cancelled due to lack of passengers or very little passengers. 

The best way is that you check directly in the booking platform www.traveloka.com where you'll be able to find out if they fly.

Bandar Lampung airport is also called Tanjung Karang when searching flights. 

Yes boards can be taken on the plane but will have a fee upon arrival at the airport. 

HOW DO I GET FROM BANDAR LAMPUNG TO BEOCEAN KRUI? AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

From Bandar Lampung to BeOcean Krui you can travel by car (they all have AC) and we can organise all airport services with our trustworthy drivers. 

The journey takes 6 hours (each way) and there is a strict maximum capacity of 4 passengers per car

When you make a reservation you can select the add on airport services to your booking and prepay these services before arrival (recommended) 

 

WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE AM I EXPECTING? 

We work with local transport companies and they generally have Toyota or Mitsubishi cars, they are all safe cars 

Cars have a maximum capacity of 4 passengers (adults) on arrival and departure as luggage and surf bags must be considered as part of the weight cars can take. 

 

WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE IN MY LUGGAGE FOR MY NEXT SURF TRIP TO KRUI? 

  • We recommend you bring 2 to 3 boards depending on your surf. Waves over here are generally between 3ft-8ft and the bigger swells can get you up to 12ft. 

  • Bodyboarders also recommended to bring at least 2 bodyboards. 

  • Reef booties

  • Rash vest 

  • Surf hat 

  • Extra wax

  • Second set of fins / second pair of bodyboard fins

  • Extra leg/arm rope

  • High protection sunscreen 

You should also consider including in your luggage:

  • Hat or cap to protect from the sun outside the water

  • Sarong or scarf

  • Sunglasses 

  • Long sleeve cotton shirt and long trousers.

  • Small torch

  • Mosquito repellent for the tropics

  • Trainers/sneakers or trekking boots for those interested in trekking

  • First aid kit with essentials for the tropics

  • Traveling camera 

  • For woman, bear in mind you are not able to buy tampons over here, so bring some extra!

 

Suggested items you might want to bring:

  • Fishing gear, spearfishing gun 

  • Snorkeling gear

 

SURF RELATED 

IS THERE A SURF SHOP IN THE AREA ? DING REPAIR?

You should come prepared with extras on your surf gear as suggested above. There is still only one local surf shop which really doesn't offer that many options if you come across gear shortage.

There is a local ding repair just around the corner who can make a decent job however if you need/want a better finish there is quite a good ding repair 30 minutes from our place 

 

At BeOcean we have some surf hardware for sale such as fins, leashes and grips.

 

IS THE SURF SUITED FOR BEGINNERS?

The surf in this area is not exactly suited for the very beginners, however there are days when the swell drops and you have some options, but really some surf skills would come in handy to give you a wider surfing choice.

 

If you are a beginner/intermediate with a few years of experience and are searching to improve your take off, turns etc etc you sure can definitely have a great experience in some of the waves in the area 

DO YOU HAVE SURF LESSONS? 

No, we do not provide surf lessons primarily because it's not an area to begin your surf 

However if you are not a beginner and are searching to improve your surf with a surf coach, we host some venues during the year with surf coaches who we can gladly put you in contact with, please inquire 

DO YOU RENT BOARDS?

We have some boards available in case you need to rent a board, please inquire 

DO YOU HAVE A SURF GUIDE?

We generally always have one or two in-house surf guides for our guests convenience

 

Normally when there is a new arrival, the surf guide will guide new guests around the area and will make sure they get to know all spots with the best condition at the time and for the following days of their trip.

During a surf trip our surf guide/s will be at our guests disposal having a general chat during dinner time about best spots for the following day and/or organising any transport needed

We try to please everyone as best as possible, however if you rather have a private surf guide during your entire trip we can arrange a freelance local surf guide at an extra fee

We do believe that having a little more freedom in your trip doesn't tie you to other schedules 

WHAT ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY?

If you'd like to capture all your surf adventures we can organise this for you with our in-house photographer so you don't miss any of your sessions! 

We have two photographers available which gives you plenty of flexibility, however if both are booked out we can assist in organising this service with a freelance local photographer

WHAT TYPE OF VISA DO I NEED TO ENTER INDONESIA? 

Indonesia has a 30 day tourist visa available for most countries (VOA visa on arrival) free of charge, therefore you should be granted the VOA at your port of entry.

When entering the Indonesian country your passport must have a minimum 6 month validity.

If you intend to stay longer than 30 days we recommend visiting the Indonesian embassy web page in your country of origin and/or www.immi.go.id  to find out more about other visas

WHAT ABOUT MONEY, HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I BRING WITH ME? 

At BeOcean you can settle ALL your bar tabs and extra services BY CARD, however you should have some cash on you for paying locally, something in the region of 700.000 IDR/ per week stay per person.

 

Please notice: 

If you intend to pay all by cash once you are here we recommend something in the region of 2.500.000 IDR/ 3.000.000 IDR per week stay, depending on how many people are travelling and what services will be paid by cash, this can be per person or per couple

Take into consideration:

There are no money changers in the area.

If you like to bring some cash we recommend you change your money in the Jakarta airport before embarking your flight to Bandar Lampung as you will get a much better rate.

Otherwise you may withdraw money in one of the ATM's in Krui where most cards are accepted nowadays. 

In Bandar Lampung airport there are also ATM’s available in case you want some cash before setting off

WHAT ABOUT LOCAL CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS?

Sumatra is dominated by the Muslim religion, having a moderate and mellow Muslim approach in the Krui region, however when leaving our premises you should take into consideration their local customs. 

Indonesians are very much attached to their traditions, ethnics and religion believes. 

If you have any questions related to their customs or traditions during your stay please do not hesitate asking as we can give you plenty of information on this matter!

Over the years, we have made good friends and have met incredible people, some of which have taught us real lessons of modesty making us feel very grateful.

 

Indonesians also have a strong rooted hospitality towards foreigners that visit their country which could explain the genuine smiles and their curiosity when you meet them!

Dressing: for men is perfectly fine to wear boards and t-shirt when going around.  

Woman are generally advised to wear modest and discrete garments, especially if they are invited or come across a formal gathering. Nevertheless (as personal experiences) you can perfectly go around places wearing discrete  t-shirts and singlets, discrete short trousers and skirts just above your knees. 

If you're strolling down the beach we recommend girls to take a sarong, whereas with guys it's more easygoing just to wear your boardies and no t-shirts. 

 

There is definitely a huge difference from cultures when foreigners visit this area, specially because it's a tiny village in the middle of nowhere, but this in fact makes it more attractive...enjoying its differences... 

 

 

ALCOHOL

In our premises we sell beer, wine and some other spirits when available. 

We have a selection of wines that are available to purchase by the bottle.

 

You are welcomed to bring your own spirits always remembering the laws in Indonesia of maximum 1lt per person, nevertheless you can check in the airport. 

 

With this we remind travellers that Indonesia has very strict laws on possession of illicit substances therefore it is advisable to avoid any temptation whatsoever when traveling to and from Indonesia.

HEALTH ISSUES

MANDATORY  traveling insurance when coming over to Krui and staying at BeOcean Krui.

Even though in Krui there is a small clinic that can assist minor injuries and a hospital in the Liwa town one hour from Krui they are still not 100% reliable for more specific injuries.

 

In Krui there are several pharmacies available, though if you require specific medication don't forget to bring plenty with you. 

 

Prior to departure you should seek medical advise when traveling to Indonesia in South East Asia. 

Indonesia usually has specific medical and vaccination issues that should be considered and treated accordingly. 

 

With regards to Malaria or Dengue fever, the risk varies according to the area. 

The Krui region itself is not classified as a risk area for dengue nor malaria so you shouldn't worry too much during your stay, nevertheless mosquito bites can be uncomfortable specially if you're prone to them, so take care during dusk and dawn by wearing long-sleeved shirts and long trousers, have a strong tropical repellent to put on exposed parts of your body too.

All beds have their own mosquito nets and bedrooms have anti-mosquito plugs.

Sumatra has a very tropical weather with two seasons, the dry season which extends from May to October and the wet season from November to April.

Average outside temperatures 29C, average water temperature 28C.

Humidity levels can reach up to 87%
