🧳 What to Pack for Krui

Keep it light! Krui is all about easy-going, relaxed vibes, so you won’t need much in your suitcase — just the essentials, your surf gear, and a big smile

Surf Gear:

• 2–3 boards (waves 3–8ft, bigger swells up to 12ft)

• Bodyboarders: 2 bodyboards

• Reef booties, rash vest, surf hat

• Extra wax, second set of fins / bodyboard fins

• Extra leg/arm rope, high-protection sunscreen

 

Other Essentials:

• Hat/cap, sarong/scarf, sunglasses

• Long sleeve cotton shirt & trousers

• Small torch, mosquito repellent

• Trainers/trekking boots, first aid kit

• 📷 Camera

For Women:

• Bring tampons (not available locally)

Optional Items:

• Fishing/spearfishing gear, snorkeling gear

• European plug/adaptor

 

🏄 Surf Related

 

Surf Shop / Ding Repair:

• Limited local surf shops, so it’s best to come prepared with extras like fins, leashes, and grips.

• Ding repair: There is a decent local repairer who can collect your board on-site if it needs fixing. He does a good job, fast and cheap, and even snaps boards when necessary.

• For a more polished finish, a shop 30 minutes away is also available.

 

Surf for Beginners:

• Krui is not ideal for complete beginners, though some manageable days exist.

• Intermediate/advanced beginners can enjoy certain waves.

 

Surf Coaching:

• Available Nov–March with in-house surf guides.

• Can be added to your trip to improve skills and enjoy more waves.

 

Board Rentals:

• Small selection available; please inquire.

 

🛂 Visa & Entry

• ✅ Check your passport — it must be valid for at least 6 months on arrival.

• As a tourist, you can apply for a B1 Visa on Arrival (VOA), valid for 30 days and extendable once for another 30 days.

💰 Money & Payments

• Card payments accepted for bar tabs & extras.

• Cash: ~700,000 IDR/week per person; fully in cash: 2,500,000–3,000,000 IDR/week.

• No money changers locally — best to exchange in Jakarta airport.

• ATMs available in Bandar Lampung and Krui; most cards accepted.

✈️ Getting to Krui

• Fly to/from Jakarta International Airport, give plenty of time after arrival or before departure (recommended 3 hours at least) then fly to Bandar Lampung (TKG)

• Book domestic flight on www.traveloka.com

• Recommended airlines: Air Asia and Garuda Indonesia 

• BeOcean provides airport pick-up/drop off — 6-hour scenic drive, well worth it!!

• Note: Bandar Lampung–Krui flights operate twice weekly with one arrival/departure only via Susi Air (12-seater aircraft) find it on traveloka.com, however be aware that this is not the most reliable way to get to Krui due to their frequent changes and cancellations, if you need more info we are happy to provide it if you have a booking with us 

 

🕌 Local Customs & Dress Code

• Krui is a moderate Muslim region; respect local traditions when you are out and about 

• Men: board shorts & t-shirts fine.

• Women: modest clothing in public/formal settings.

• Beach strolls: women are recommended to use a sarong; men board shorts fine without t-shirt is ok

 

🍹 Alcohol & Substances

• On-site: we sell a variety of wines, spirits, cold beer, and tasty cocktails to be enjoyed at our front ocean decks with a great vibe and amazing sunsets! 

• Outside: if you drink outside, please respect the culture and behave 

• Guests may bring 1L of spirits; illicit substances strictly prohibited.

 

🩺 Health & Safety

• Travel insurance mandatory.

• There are local clinics for minor issues including stitches, ear infection etc; nearest hospital ~1 hour away.

• Pharmacies available; bring specific medications if needed.

• Krui is not classified as malaria/dengue risk, but mosquito precautions recommended.

• All beds have mosquito nets; rooms equipped with anti-mosquito plugs.
